Yes, I have reported bugs and requested small features in application, but I didn't contribute to open source project as a developer YET. That's why I want to apply for GSoC, to learn how to participate and get experience.

I will definitely continue contributing to MATE because that's the #1 desktop environment I'm using and I really want to help the developers improving it.
I will definitely start contributing to MATE, whether I will get accepted for this year's GSoC or not. So yes, my answer is that I will.

Why do you want to work with the Fedora Project?

Because I'm using MATE desktop environment and I want to participate in its development under Google Summer of Code.

Do you have any past involvement with the Fedora project or any other open source project as a contributor?

I have not contributed to any open source programs yet, but I have reported bug and requested features. I want to start contributing with actual code, and GSoC is just perfect for a start.

Did you participate with the past GSoC programs, if so which years, which organizations?

No, I didn't, this would be my first time.

Will you continue contributing/ supporting the Fedora project after the GSoC 2012 program, if yes, which team(s), you are interested with?

I will definitely start contributing to MATE, whether I will get accepted for this year's GSoC or not. So yes, my answer is that I will.

Why should we choose you over other applicants?

Because:

  • I have great commitment to open source programs, like GIMP, MATE desktop environment, and Linux itself. I'm using only open source applications on my laptop.
  • I know C very well and C++ well. I have written a small and unusual strategic game in C, and a half-finished software renderer in C++.
  • I have a small GTK experience via PyGTK, so the toolkit itself wouldn't be new to me.
  • Blogging about my progress shouldn't be a problem for me, since I already have a personal blog which holds my best memories.
  • I have contacted Stefano Karapetsas via e-mail, we have talked a lot, and I'm hanging around on IRC when I have some freetime.
