Detailed Description
This is a Traditional Chinese equivalent of libpinyin and ibus-libpinyin which replaced ibus-pinyin as default in Fedora 18.
The libzhuyin project provides the core algorithms for intelligent sentence-based Chinese Zhuyin input methods, and is already packaged in Fedora. With the assistant of libzhuyin, the user can correctly input some words of Chinese sentence, and then libzhuyin try to figure out the rest of the inputting sentence for the user.
Benefit to Fedora
Enhance the experience of Fedora for Chinese Zhuyin users by guessing what the user want to input.
Scope
- Proposal Owners:
- Develop the ibus-libzhuyin project in order for users to use libzhuyin backend.
- Package ibus-libzhuyin in Fedora
- Test, improve, and fix bugs
- Change default IME for Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) from ibus-chewing to ibus-libzhuyin.
- Other Developers: N/A (Not a System Wide Change)
- Release engineering: N/A (Not a System Wide Change)
- Policies and guidelines: N/A (Not a System Wide Change)
How To Test
For gnome desktop:
- Check whether "New Zhuyin" is listed in "Region & Language" and default IME list.
- Try to add "New Zhuyin" to IME list, begin to use the new Zhuyin IME.
For non-gnome desktop:
- Check whether "New Zhuyin" is listed in ibus-setup dialog and default IME list.
- Try to add "New Zhuyin" to IME list, begin to use the new Zhuyin IME.
User Experience
With the libzhuyin back end, Chinese users will have better and faster Zhuyin input.
Contingency Plan
Revert to ibus-chewing as default Zhuyin IME.
Documentation
Release Notes
