John J. McDonough passed away on 20 April 2020. Please contribute to his memorial page.

John J. McDonough

John J. McDonough is a retired software professional who has been a long term user of Fedora / Red Hat.

Although his focus through the latter part of his career was on the software process, he still loves to grok a little code when the excuse arises. He has consulted on software process improvement with multinational companies all over the world. He is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

John's development experience covers the gamut from embedded microcontrollers to IBM mainframes and from the ancient SDS 940 TSO to Fedora. However, his experience with Windows Vista, 7 and 8 are sorely lacking.

Where in the world

Usually, Midland, Michigan ... a very cold place. Forty years ago I drove across Ontario and headed north and I said to myself "McD! What are you thinking?" Well, except for a brief respite in southern Ohio and an even briefer stay in Utrecht, the Netherlands, I've been here ever since.

Interests

John has a wide range of interests. He is an amateur radio operator (WB8RCR) and very involved in emergency communications. He is the the SEC and STM for Michigan, the State RACES officer, the Great Lakes Division rep to the ECAC, and the AuxComm Emergency Management Coordinator for the State of Michigan. He is also interested in electronics, embedded development, photography and fast cars. The links below give a more complete picture.
