Electron is an open-source (licensed under the MIT License) framework for building desktop applications using web technologies. It is developed by GitHub, and was originally created as the basis for the Atom text editor. Electron is built on a Chromium (the open-source project behind Google Chrome) backbone.

Despite being open-source, electron is not in the official repositories of Fedora, but cross-distribution binary archives are available from its GitHub repository's releases page. Fusion809 also maintains AppImages for running Electron on 64-bit Linux distributions. Here is the download page for these AppImages. The mosquito/atom Copr also contains 32-bit and 64-bit RPM packages for Electron on Fedora, although it is worthwhile noting that these builds are of the Electron versions used by Atom, which is no longer maintained as Atom is defunct as of December 15, 2022.
