== About me ==
== About me ==
I'm a final-year MS Software Systems student with a strong passion for open-source and Linux systems. I started my coding journey in early 2023, primarily focusing on Python. My academic pursuits are driven by my interests, and I make it a point to document what I learn. I've completed two internships at the same startup[https://www.steppingedge.com/], where I worked as a web developer intern for four months and later as a research and development intern for five months.
I'm a final year MS student who is genuinely interested in '''Open Source & Free Software'''. I'm a huge fan of Linux Operating Systems especially '''Fedora''' :P

Before diving into coding, I spent three years, from 2015 to 2018, working as a PC hardware technician at my father's PC hardware store. I gained hands-on experience building, diagnosing, and troubleshooting older-generation PC hardware, making some really good memories and learning a lot in the process.
I started my coding journey in 2023 as an ''SWE intern'' & was promoted to '''Research Engineer Intern''' at the same company[https://www.steppingedge.com/]. After that I started focusing and involving myself with the open-source communities.

In addition to my technical background, I've worked on various side projects, including poster design, logo design, and graphical and vector designs, using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Corel Draw. These experiences have given me a balanced skill set in coding, design, and hardware.
Apart from my technical background with programming and development, I also have a '''considerable advantage due to my experience in graphic designing and hardware diagnostics over 4 years of experience''', giving me a well-rounded skill set across software, hardware, and design ''':)'''

Building on my experience from JGEC Winter of Code, I was '''selected as a mentor''' for the GirlScript Summer of Code. In this role, I guide beginners and enthusiasts in contributing to the "'''Scrape Up'''[https://github.com/Clueless-Community/scrape-up]" project, a Python package for web scraping that extracts data from platforms like GitHub, Twitter, and Instagram.
After using Fedora Linux for a year, my curiosity about the open-source community grew, leading me to participate in the '''JGEC Winter of Code'''. I contributed to the development of the '''EagleView'''[https://github.com/hexronuspi/eagleview] image manipulation Python package, where I implemented an RGB view feature and revamped the documentation to improve usability and performance. My responsibilities aimed at ''helping new contributors navigate and succeed'' in the open-source development community.

==== Contributing to CommOps ====

Check out the [Fedora CommOps GitLab](https://gitlab.com/fedora/commops) for more details.
==== Infrastructure ====
* '''Communication''': I actively participate in discussions to keep the community connected and informed.
I participate and host meetings at matrix channel[https://matrix.to/#/#meeting-3:fedoraproject.org] and I also contribute to updating the outage at '''statusfpo''' repository[https://github.com/fedora-infra/statusfpo]. I'm just starting out to contribute more in technical aspects rather than community-related tasks, so I'm currently exploring the projects and learning as well...XP
* '''Improvement''': I work on enhancing Fedora by contributing to software, refining processes, and improving documentation.
* '''Connections''': I build relationships within the community, helping new contributors feel welcome and supported.
* '''Documentation''': I ensure that Fedora’s documentation is clear and user-friendly.
* '''Fedora Elections''': I assist in organizing Fedora Elections to ensure a transparent process.

==== Why I Chose This ====
==== Community Operations ====

I mostly help by fixing and improving documentations in '''Community Operations'''(CommOps) repositories and documentation sites. When I joined this team, they had shifted from '''Pagure to GitLab''', so I started updating the documentations and gradually became more involved in community-related activities. I'm also an '''Editor''' for Community Blog, where I edit/review articles to ensure they follow the guidelines. I ''participate in weekly and monthly meetings'' and I'm always willing to volunteer.
I chose to contribute to the Fedora Project primarily because I want to excel in communications and collaboration. Fedora provides a platform where I can develop these skills while making a meaningful impact in the open-source community.

==== Additional Focus Areas ====

* '''Onboarding''': I help new contributors get started with Fedora, making the process smoother and more accessible.
* '''Community Understanding''': I use data and metrics to better understand the community’s needs and work on improving the overall experience.

About me

I'm a final year MS student who is genuinely interested in Open Source & Free Software. I'm a huge fan of Linux Operating Systems especially Fedora :P

I started my coding journey in 2023 as an SWE intern & was promoted to Research Engineer Intern at the same company[1]. After that I started focusing and involving myself with the open-source communities.

Apart from my technical background with programming and development, I also have a considerable advantage due to my experience in graphic designing and hardware diagnostics over 4 years of experience, giving me a well-rounded skill set across software, hardware, and design :)

Participation in Open-Source Programs

GirlScript Summer of Code 2024

I got selected as mentor for a Python package project and mentored over 26 contributors, including 17 newcomers, helping them understand the project's framework and guiding them as they made their first contributions.

After that, I was selected as a Project Administrator for my project, where I managed the overall project[2], facilitated contributor onboarding, and ensured smooth collaboration among participants and mentors. I helped them learn the best practices for communication and workflow to improve the collaborative environment.

JGEC Winter of Code 2024

After using Fedora Linux for a year, my curiosity about the open-source community grew, leading me to participate in the JGEC Winter of Code. I contributed to the development of the EagleView[3] image manipulation Python package, where I implemented an RGB view feature and revamped the documentation to improve usability and performance. My efforts were recognized, and I ranked 23rd out of 184 participants.

What I Do in the Fedora Project

Infrastructure

I participate and host meetings at matrix channel[4] and I also contribute to updating the outage at statusfpo repository[5]. I'm just starting out to contribute more in technical aspects rather than community-related tasks, so I'm currently exploring the projects and learning as well...XP

Community Operations

I mostly help by fixing and improving documentations in Community Operations(CommOps) repositories and documentation sites. When I joined this team, they had shifted from Pagure to GitLab, so I started updating the documentations and gradually became more involved in community-related activities. I'm also an Editor for Community Blog, where I edit/review articles to ensure they follow the guidelines. I participate in weekly and monthly meetings and I'm always willing to volunteer.
