About me
I'm a final year MS student who is genuinely interested in Open Source & Free Software. I'm a huge fan of Linux Operating Systems especially Fedora :P
I started my coding journey in 2023 as an SWE intern & was promoted to Research Engineer Intern at the same company[1]. After that I started focusing and involving myself with the open-source communities.
Apart from my technical background with programming and development, I also have a considerable advantage due to my experience in graphic designing and hardware diagnostics over 4 years of experience, giving me a well-rounded skill set across software, hardware, and design :)
Participation in Open-Source Programs
GirlScript Summer of Code 2024
I got selected as mentor for a Python package project and mentored over 26 contributors, including 17 newcomers, helping them understand the project's framework and guiding them as they made their first contributions.
After that, I was selected as a Project Administrator for my project, where I managed the overall project[2], facilitated contributor onboarding, and ensured smooth collaboration among participants and mentors. I helped them learn the best practices for communication and workflow to improve the collaborative environment.
JGEC Winter of Code 2024
After using Fedora Linux for a year, my curiosity about the open-source community grew, leading me to participate in the JGEC Winter of Code. I contributed to the development of the EagleView[3] image manipulation Python package, where I implemented an RGB view feature and revamped the documentation to improve usability and performance. My efforts were recognized, and I ranked 23rd out of 184 participants.
What I Do in the Fedora Project
Infrastructure
I participate and host meetings at matrix channel[4] and I also contribute to updating the outage at statusfpo repository[5]. I'm just starting out to contribute more in technical aspects rather than community-related tasks, so I'm currently exploring the projects and learning as well...XP
Community Operations
I mostly help by fixing and improving documentations in Community Operations(CommOps) repositories and documentation sites. When I joined this team, they had shifted from Pagure to GitLab, so I started updating the documentations and gradually became more involved in community-related activities. I'm also an Editor for Community Blog, where I edit/review articles to ensure they follow the guidelines. I participate in weekly and monthly meetings and I'm always willing to volunteer.
