The Fedora Audio/Video Kit (or AV Kit) is currently being developed as part of FUDCon Live. Currently, zero (0) AV Kits exists. The Fedora AV Kits provide resources to record, stream and podcast major events, like FUDCons and some larger FADs.
What exactly is the purpose of an AV Kit?
Where did this idea come from?
Can I use a AV Kit for my Event?
What if I have an idea for the AV Kit?
Have an idea for an item that should be in this kit? Add it to the table below (soon). Do you have another idea for the AV Kit? Create a section and add it to this page.
How many AV Kits are 'Live' in the wild?
Zero, but we're working on one right now. We've not yet decided how to build the AV Kit, but plans are being written right now :)
What's in the 'Live' AV Kits?
Where have these AV Kits Been?
Here is the History of the Live AV Kits.
Contents of the AV Kit
The AV Kit is made of one or more modules of various types. Each module has equipment for recording one room.
Basic AV Kit
This kit will enable you to capture basic audio and/or video from a presentation and sync it with one (1) VGA output into one (1) USB video input and one (1) remote microphone/mixer combo into USB audio input.
Item | What it's for | Cost |
---|---|---|
one (1) remote lavalier microphone base with two (2) lavalier microphones | recording audio from one (1) or two (2) presenters | ~$150 |
one (1) two-channel mixer (four-channel would be acceptable) | input for one (1) input from a lavalier microphone base and one (1) dynamic microphone input | ~$80 |
one (1) scan converter and easyCAP [1] | converts VGA out to USB in | ~$100 |
one (1) webcam (optional) [2] | provides a visual of the presenter | ~$100 |
Advanced AV Kit
The advanced AV Kit provides *all* of the items from the Basic AV Kit. The additional component provides a higher-definition option. The items are restated here just for completeness.
Item | What it's for | Cost |
---|---|---|
one (1) miniDV camera (for displaying the presenter) | pointing at the presenter and audience | ~$300 |
one (1) remote lavalier microphone base with two (2) lavalier microphones | recording audio from one (1) or two (2) presenters | ~$150 |
one (1) two-channel mixer (four-channel would be acceptable) | input for one (1) input from a lavalier microphone base and one (1) dynamic microphone input | ~$80 |
one (1) scan converter and easyCAP | converts VGA out to USB in | ~$100 |
one (1) webcam (optional) | provides a visual of the presenter | ~$100 |
