I was on the [https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Previous_Fedora_Engineering_Steering_Committee_Members/#members-of-the-original-fesco-feb-2005---jun-2006 first] Fedora Extras Steering Committee (FESCo) and served as chairman [https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Previous_Fedora_Engineering_Steering_Committee_Members/#members-of-second-fesco-jun-2006---jul-2007 of the second]; sadly when Fedora Core and Extras merged I had to resign from that position due conflicting interests with my day job. That freed time for other things in Fedora-land, so together with others I started the [[EPEL|EPEL]] effort and served as chairmen for the first EPEL Steering Committee till February 2008. Over time my focus shifted more and more work in the area of the Linux kernel. That's why these days I'm not that active in the Fedora Project any more and maintain just a few packages in Fedora Linux.
