== IBus ==
== Input Methods ==
ibus now supports xkb layouts and switching and users can add xkb layouts in addition to input method engines in the ibus context menu.
* In ibus-libpinyin, press "Ctrl-Shift-d" to remove the remembered user phrase; and in double pinyin mode, press "I" to use lua script extension.
* XKB option ISO_Level3_Shift key is not available in control-center Keyboard panel, one needs to use 'gnome-tweak-tool' to enable 3rd level chooser key.
* {{package|ibus}} moved the ''emoji'' feature from ''IBus'' ''XKB'' engines to ''IBus'' ''GTK'' panel:
{{admon/note|| '' ''
* The shortcut key {{key press|Ctrl}}-{{key press|Shift}}-{{key press|e}} can be customized with <code>ibus-setup</code>
* The language of emoji annotation can be selected with <code>ibus-setup</code> besides English
* The emoji font can be selected with <code>ibus-setup</code> (You might like '''Noto Color Emoji''' font)
* All '''IBus''' engines can use the emoji feature from the panel
* The emoji dialog can output emojis with keyboard without mouse for CLI users
* Now {{key press|Ctrl}}-{{key press|Shift}}-{{key press|e}} is available in non-GNOME desktops since '''GNOME''' uses the own panel indicator instead of ''IBus'' ''GTK'' panel
* <code>ibus emoji</code> command is available for '''GNOME''' desktop and the shortcut of the command can be registered with gnome-control-center by manual

The ibus trigger shortcut, by default Control + Space, now toggles to the last previously used input method instead of switching on and off an ibus engine.
== New Packages ==
The new behaviour is similar to how MacOS and ChromiumOS behave with respect to input method switching.
=== Fonts ===
ibus can show the keymaps and input methods in the same layer not to distinguish them. So we won't provide the status of IM engine off in the new ibus structure.
* adobe-source-serif-pro-fonts : Source Serif Pro is a set of OpenType fonts to complement the Source Sans Pro family.

* oflb-coval-fonts : Derivation of other free of charge fonts
There is a configuration option in ibus-setup to switch back to the previous Control+Space behaviour for those who prefer it.
* astigmatic-grand-hotel-fonts - Script retro style fonts
However this may be removed in the future: feedback on the new default behaviour is welcome.
* typetype-molot-fonts - Display sans-serif fonts

=== Libraries ===
Other trigger shortcut bindings specific to certain countries have been moved to the appropriate input method engine's configuration, and ibus provides Control+Space only by default now.
* sharpfont : Cross-platform FreeType bindings for .NET
E.g. Alt_R is now only for Hangul engines, and Zenkaku_Hankaku and Alt+` are available for the Japanese engines only.
* libXfont2 - X11 font support library

* nodejs-os-locale : To get the system locale
ibus-gnome3 can now provide the shell-themed icon, menu and IM lookup window instead of gtk-themed status icon. ibus-gnome3 also can show the text icon for each engine instead of image icon. Basically we'd think language ASCII prefixes (e.g. 'us', 'fr', 'de') for keymaps and multi-byte prefixes (e.g. '中', 'あ') for input methods.<br />
* nodejs-y18n : The bare-bones internationalization library used by yargs
ibus-gnome3 is provided by ibus side for Fedora 16 as the intermitted solution. Our goal is to integrate the same feature in gnome-shell upstream but the current target is the time frame of Fedora 17 due to the development cycle.<br />
See also [[Features/GnomeInputIntegration]].

ibus can now provides XIM feature in both GTK, QT and X11 applications. Currently the default XIM is the US mode and also cedilla mode only if the language is pt-br.

ibus now allows engines to define XKB options.  For example, when a user enables Indic engines provided by ibus-m17n, Alt_R will be automatically mapped to AltGr.  Then the user switches to ibus-anthy, AltGr will be unmapped.
eekboard on-screen keyboard can now be activated through IBus, in addition to desktop accessibility.  See [https://fedorahosted.org/eekboard/wiki/TabletGuide setup instruction for tablet PC].

ibus-gucharmap provides new Unicode input method, which supports in-place character-map view, character search based on Unicode names, and easy navigation with various keyboard shortcuts.

* ITB has Tamil support added.
** Tamil typing booster is predictive text input method and supports Tamil-99 and Inscript layout.

== Fonts ==

Fedora now includes font for Nastaleeq script,  one of the main script styles used in writing the Perso-Arabic script, and traditionally the predominant style in Persian calligraphy.

Improved Arabic script support for Urdu language by adding following new font packages.

* nafees-naskh-fonts
* nafees-nastaleeq-fonts
* nafees-tehreer-naskh-fonts
* nafees-riqa-fonts
* nafees-pakistani-naskh-fonts

Anaconda now uses wqy-microhei-fonts for Chinese when installing, to improve font displays for Simplified Chinese locale.
