There are few known issues in the release of Fedora 16 for the s390x architecture
* There is a major change in the installation process where the long-lived linuxrc script used for configuring stuff for s390x is now removed and dracut options are used to provide those information. And because we don't want to delay the release of Fedora 17 it means that there can be scenarios where Fedora can't be installed now. We are working on it, but naturally will appreciate reports of such scenarios. It should affect primarily Hercules users as the main tested installation path is now over the QETH interface, which is provided only in the post 3.07 Hercules snapshots.
* the "Shutdown" button at the end of the installation doesn't work - relates to [https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=740858 bug 740858], see below for more details
* the Haskell compiler ghc and its companion packages are now provided also on s390x, thanks to Jens Petersen for the bootstrapping
* a terminal isn't shown on the console when running in Hercules, if doing "Minimal" installation you need to login with ssh at the end of the installation, change into the newly installed system with "chroot /mnt/sysimage" and run "chkconfig network on" so the network will be up after reboot and login with ssh will be possible. It's not clear if this issue affects also LPAR installation on real hardware, but Hercules emulates something like LPAR mode.
* Eclipse is now built for s390x, thanks to Krzysztof Daniel and the rest of Eclipse team
* there is a delay (few seconds) after the password is entered during login and before the shell prompt appears ([https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771579 bug 771579] fixed in systemd-37-8.fc16)
* example of using dracut options set in generic.prm
* /etc/zipl.conf needs 2 new variables set to behave the same as in F <= 15 and in RHEL <= 6, we switched from Fedora specific patch to using new functionality provided by zipl directly. Those variables are <tt>defaultauto</tt> and <tt>prompt=1</tt> and they must be written in the <tt>[defaultboot]</tt> section ([https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=783424 bug 783424])
