|Why should a spin, any spin, to have a different background? I think if it is Fedora then it should look and work like Fedora (NicuBuculei 10:30, 9 September 2008 (UTC))

* Here is a test. (sorry about the url at bottom and the small size; I'm moving the server) this is just an idea http://tatica.org/galeria/wallpapers/pictures/security.jpg (MariaLeandro 13:40, 25 November 2008 (UTC))
* Here is another test, just a first approach. The whole concept is based, of course, on the need for a security related wallpaper, but influenced by what Nicu pointed out, I recommend something like this:

Additions like text ("Fedora Security Spin") are also considered. Further points to consider :
* binary digits 1,0 are the same as decimal 10 (like Fedora 10) (Constanton 22:13, 30 December 2008 (UTC))
* Here is an initial concept, prob better combined with fc10 background. The idea is tat it can be used as a logo or banner or a button or letter head ect. what do you think? https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Image:Oldkeysecurity.svg

The Fonts category has just been created after the wiki migration. It needs a branding image (for now it reuses the Fonts SIG image).

* The form factor must be the same as the new Fonts SIG branding image.

|Refresh the Fonts SIG branding image

With the wiki migration some CSS tricks that were used to prettify the current artwork are no longer possible. The artwork needs to be adapted/changed to compensate.
Constraints:
* The current image can be re-used, or a new one proposed

* needs to integrate well with the wiki (rounded or bubble feel)
* needs to be small enough to be used in embedded sections such as this one. This is not a full-width page header. However the exact form factor and size is left to the appreciation of the designer.

Wiki Banner & Desktop Theme
Logo, Wallpaper, Wiki Banner

Something like the KDE 4 Kids theme - but this is way too childish. Does not necessarily need to be a whole desktop theme - at first, a wallpaper would be great. Maybe also two, depending on the target user's age... ideas are welcome :)
Concerning the wallpaper: Our spin is targeted at students (probably being > 12 or older) or teachers, e.g. in schools or at universities... ideas are welcome :)

|A simple idea for the logo: A symbol, quite corporate to mix simple and corporate - community and enterprise - including the main letters of EPEL : EXtra Packages for Enterprise... This is what the symbol is about. The red color has been used to honour Red Hat, while the blue in the EPEL text is for Fedora. The style of the letters and their mixing creates a flying eagle symbolizing the growth of the project. Below there are the full logo, the icon in 128x128 and the banner.

Some comments on lajir's proposal (sorry if I sound very harsh): (NicuBuculei 07:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC))
* the image is very blurry, like it was created as a very large size and then called down, please make it sharper, it's hard to understand;
* the font is odd, too condensed;
* the colors are wrong, from the blue background to the fedora logo on the ship's flag;
* the proposed EPEL logo, on the banner is impossible to read (too blurry). And I don't get its metaphor.

The design team has a ticket queue now! (about time.) Instead of using this page, please file requests in our trac ticket system:

https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/newticket

Are you the administrator of a Fedora web app but need some icons or a nice template to spruce it up? Think you need to improve the usability of your application but you're not sure how? Do you want to run a marketing campaign on the Fedora wiki but need some graphical banners?

Basically, if you need any computer graphics relating to Fedora, or need some design help making your application usable, drop a request here!

How to use the service

For users

Add a new entry in the ""Request list"" below, specify the type of graphic you need and any details (e.g., date/time/place for an event poster, URL for a usability review, etc.), and contact info (email and irc are good) so an artist/designer can get in contact with you if there's any information they need to create the design. Please add changes to the top of the list of "Request List"

Watch the page to see when is taken/completed. If it doesn't seem like anyone is picking it up, forward your request to fedora-art-list@redhat.com.

For Fedora Art contributors

When you start working on a new design change the status to reflect is taken. When ready, change the status to 'closed'. If any artwork or design you come up with might be generally useful for others, post it here so we can save it as a resource.

Additions like text ("Fedora Security Spin") are also considered. Further points to consider :

Create a branding image for the Fonts category

The Fonts category has just been created after the wiki migration. It needs a branding image (for now it reuses the Fonts SIG image).

Constraints:

 • The form factor must be the same as the new Fonts SIG branding image.

Refresh the Fonts SIG branding image

With the wiki migration some CSS tricks that were used to prettify the current artwork are no longer possible. The artwork needs to be adapted/changed to compensate. Constraints:

 • The current image can be re-used, or a new one proposed

SIG artwork

 • needs to integrate well with the wiki (rounded or bubble feel)
 • needs to be small enough to be used in embedded sections such as this one. This is not a full-width page header. However the exact form factor and size is left to the appreciation of the designer.

Updates to the progress of this request:

 • the image is very blurry, like it was created as a very large size and then called down, please make it sharper, it's hard to understand;
 • the font is odd, too condensed;
 • the colors are wrong, from the blue background to the fedora logo on the ship's flag;
 • the proposed EPEL logo, on the banner is impossible to read (too blurry). And I don't get its metaphor.

Some comments on the Symbolized one from pangr? WOW. Thats perfect. ([User:Smooge|Smooge]] 17:35, 17 Feb 2008 (UTC))

Till Maas for GPScorrelate

2008-11-01

GPScorrelate is an application that allows to add GPS coordinates to JPEG images based on a GPS logfile, that contains timestamps and coordinates. To find the correct coordinates, the timestamp of the image is used to find the matching coordinate from the logfile. I would like to get this package into Fedora, but unluckily it does not have a logo for the application menu.

Mike McGrath for CSI

2009-01-20

CSI is a community based standards set, I'd like a couple of logos and banners that I can alter for each standard we write. The first policy I'm rolling out is - http://mmcgrath.fedorapeople.org/policy/ So the banner would say something like "CSI Compliant - Security Policy" or something like that.

Karsten Wade for Summer coding 2009

Posters and banners for rotation on fedoraproject.org front-page and in blogs. For the Summer coding ideas for 2009 page we need to target contributors to suggest and offer to mentor specific ideas. "Contributors to generate ideas and mentor students for 2009 Summer coding projects," is a specific theme. These are the ideas that many students us to propose projects for the upcoming Google Summer of Code (GSoC); other Summer/student coding projects may use this list. We do not know yet if the Fedora Project and JBoss.org are going to be accepted for GSoC 2009. For this reason, I've been separating our general "Summer coding" work from the the GSoC work

Google will be opening the student application process soon; Fedora will have our Summer coding ideas for 2009 page populated with ideas and mentors by then.
