Description
0 A.D. (pronounced "zero ey-dee") is a free, open-source, cross-platform real-time strategy (RTS) game of ancient warfare. In short, it is a historically-based war/economy game that allows players to relive or rewrite the history of Western civilizations, focusing on the years between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D. The project is highly ambitious, involving state-of-the-art 3D graphics, detailed artwork, sound, and a flexible and powerful custom-built game engine.
You must be using a card supported by the intel video driver.
Setup
- Ensure the nomodeset and i915.modeset=0 kernel parameters are not set in your bootloader configuration

- Ensure the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
does not exist, or is a valid file that uses the intel driver - Shut your system down entirely, then start it up again
- If using a live image to test, ignore the above steps and simply boot the system from the live image with default options
- Ensure that
glxinfo | grep 'OpenGL renderer'
does not return OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer or llvmpipe - Install the
0ad
package with the commandsu -c 'yum install 0ad'
How to test
- Launch '0ad' from a terminal.
- Game is in alpha state and doesn't offer any options yet. But seems to be pretty stable and suitable for testing GPU rendering.
- Run single player game: "Single Player" - "Matches" - "Start Game".
- Play game for some time.
- Quit 0 A.D.
Expected Results
- The game should not crash at any point.
- There should be no obvious misrendering (flickering, transparent buildings/units/terrain, polygons instead of surfaces...)
- You can see reflections on surfaces and shadows. If you see distinct polygons instead of smooth surfaces, this is a rendering bug.
- Game should be usable and stable on any modern GPU.
