Detailed Description

The Apache Ambari project is aimed at making Hadoop management simpler by developing software for provisioning, managing, and monitoring Apache Hadoop clusters. Ambari provides an intuitive, easy-to-use Hadoop management web UI backed by its RESTful APIs.

Benefit to Fedora

Apache Ambari packaging is an initial step towards providing provisioning and management for the emerging Hadoop stack developed for Fedora.

Scope

  • Proposal owners: The Ambari package has not yet been accepted into Fedora. There is an outstanding FPC request for a temporary bundling exception for Javascript libraries distributed by upstream.

Upgrade/compatibility impact

N/A (not a System Wide Change)

How To Test

An upstream quickstart guide is available here which describes setup.

User Experience

Users should be able to use the Ambari server to configure, install, and deploy HDP Hadoop stacks on Centos/RHEL/SLES/OLE from Hortonworks repos.

Dependencies

N/A with respect to Fedora Hadoop ecosystem (native agent support is disabled)
