Placing other elements too close to the Fedora logo can make it appear that we have a relationship between us and what the elements represent. It can also make it look like we've changed. It's important to keep the logo intact, without outside entities, so it will be more recognizable.

Revision as of 17:18, 29 July 2010

This page is a draft only
It is still under construction and content may change. Do not rely on the information on this page.

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE LOGOS ON THIS PAGE. Refer to Logo/UsageGuidelines for current guidelines.

The Fedora brand guidelines are the official brand and logo guidelines of the Fedora Project.

Use of Fedora-related logos must fall under these guidelines. Deviations from the guidelines for the Fedora Logo and the Fedora Remix logo must be permitted by the Board. Deviations from the guidelines for the FUDCon logo, the Foundations artwork, and any other guideline must be permitted by the Design Team.

Fedora's trademark guidelines also apply to these logos, so be sure to follow them as well.

There are two tarballs containing different types of Fedora logos:

  • fedora-logos.tar.gz contains our registered trademarks and must be obtained by emailing logo@fedoraproject.org. (Please be patient about requests as this queue is run by a human.)
  • fedora-logos-free.tar.gz contains our unregistered trademarks and may be obtained at INSERT LINK HERE.

In addition, all logos on this page share a set of common guidelines that must be followed.

Fedora

The Fedora logo symbolizes the Fedora Project and all that it does — the operating system it creates as well as the community that creates it.

All of these logos are inside the fedora/ directory of fedora-logos.tar.gz.

Usage of the Fedora logo must follow the common guidelines listed on this page.

Trademark guidelines in effect
Fedora®, the Fedora word design, and the Infinity design logo, either separately or in combination, are trademarks of Red Hat, Inc., and their permitted usage is documented in the trademark guidelines. Although these logos are available here on the wiki, they are NOT licensed for any use except as specifically set out in the trademark guidelines.

Fedora Remix

Trademark guidelines in effect

Fedora Remix and the Fedora Remix word design, either separately or in combination, are trademarks of Red Hat, Inc., and their permitted usage is documented in the trademark guidelines.

Although these logos are available here on the wiki, they are NOT licensed for any use except as specifically set out in the trademark guidelines.

The Fedora Remix logo is the secondary trademark described in the trademark guidelines.

Fonts

Fonts may be in flux
Follow along on the design-team list. This is mainly a note for Ian so that he can remember to reach a consensus before pushing.

Where possible, use MgOpen Modata. It's available in the Fedora repositories as mgopen-modata-fonts.

Otherwise, use Droid Sans. It's available in the Fedora repositories as google-droid-sans-fonts.

Do not use Bryant2, the typeface used in the logotype. It is non-free and cannot be distributed with Fedora.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 The definition of "dark background" is 50% gray or darker.
  2. Note how the "remix" text stays white no matter the background color, unless the background is black.
  3. This is the only exception to the "remix" text being white.
  4. Why no "Freedom Blue"? Funny answer: Since Fedora and Freedom are synonymous, we decided not to create an entirely new color for freedom. Serious answer: The colors are the same.
