Zarafa in Fedora
The Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP) is a Microsoft Exchange replacement. The Open Source Collaboration provides an integration with your existing Linux mail server and native mobile phone support by ActiveSync compatibility. Zarafa Webaccess features the familiar Outlook 'Look & Feel' interface and you can keep using the features in Outlook that have always allowed you to work efficiently. View your e-mail, calendar and contacts via a web browser. And opening your colleagues calendar or sending a meeting request is only a piece of cake. The Zarafa Webaccess is using the ajax technology to give a more interactive feeling to the users. Including an IMAP and a POP3 gateway as well as an iCal/CalDAV gateway, Zarafa can combine the usability with the stability and flexibility of a Linux server. The proven Zarafa groupware solution is using MAPI objects, provides a MAPI client library as well as programming interfaces for C++, PHP and Perl.
Installing Zarafa
Zarafa is not available in the traditional Fedora DVD image, however it is available in the regular Fedora and EPEL repositories. You can install Zarafa after installation using the command line or the package manager of your choice.
To install Zarafa (in a simple setup) using the command line, execute the following as root:
yum install zarafa zarafa-webaccess mysql-server httpd
Please note, that for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivates like CentOS, the repository Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) has to be enabled before.
Installing Z-Push
Z-Push is not available in Fedora, because Exchange ActiveSync is patented by Microsoft in several regions including the United States. Software which is legally encumbered, cannot be included in Fedora, because it conflicts with our foundations. But Z-Push is available in RPM Fusion, a third party repository legally located in Europe.
To install Z-Push (in a simple setup) using the command line, execute the following as root:
yum install zarafa-z-push
If you are just looking for Z-Push without any Zarafa integration, execute the following as root at the command line:
yum install z-push
Please note, that in every case the repository RPM Fusion has to be enabled before, otherwise the packages will be not available.
