The purpose of this page is to catalog our processes for producing Fedora media worldwide.
General process
Funds for Fedora media come from the FAmSCo budget.
NA
Clint Savage has been handling the media production with Advanced Media Solutions for the past few releases.
The NA regional ambassadors decide what quantities and flavors of media they want, and Red Hat pays for it with either a purchase order or a credit card.
We make one giant batch of media for all of NA, and then ship it as needed to regional ambassadors in the USA and Canada.
LATAM
We need to clarify and define a process that not only gets media created and paid for, but also distributed throughout the region.
Previously, media was created by Rodrigo Padula using a printer that was purchased by Red Hat, but this is pretty slow and limited in its reach.
There has been talks about given resources to Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama). Producing media in one of those countries will be easily move to the others. There is no real advantage on trying to send media from Central America to other countries as shipment cost will increase the overall cost. Neville A. Cross has been working on this. Exploring about a media production like Brasil has, or just to hire a company to produce the media. Talks have lead toward the last option.
EMEA
For the last several releases, the media was produced in Munich, with one of the folks in Red Hat's marketing team handling the details with the local media production company.
Based upon the Mediabit Statement Media-bit.pdf Sascha Spreitzer is able to order on behalf of Red Hat the media for the Fedora Project. Starting with Fedora 13 we now can implement a general media production process. Please also take a look on the media Website.

Here are the specific steps:
- We start by introducing Sascha to the folks at the media production company, and clarify exactly what they need from us in order to make an order, and how much time they need to produce it. We make it clear that Red Hat is still paying directly. DONE
- EMEA Ambassadors determine the different spins and quantities that we want to produce. in progress
- We provide the media company with ISOs and artwork, as well as a list of shipping addresses and quantities.
- sspreitzer opens the order with Media Bit in Munich.
- Red Hat's EMEA receives the bill and charges it to the Community Architecture expenses.
India
We need to clarify and define a process that not only gets media created and paid for, but also distributed throughout the region.
APAC

LATAM
Bigest events celebrated at LATAM are FLISOL (April) and SFD (September).
Expectations for Central America are to have at least 150 LiveCD and 150 Install DVD to be distributed among El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama. Launch events should require similar quantities.
EMEA
This seems to be the list of different flavors that are desired:
- GNOME 32 bit Live
- KDE 32 bit Live
- LXDE 32 bit Live
- XFCE 32 bit Live
- 32 bit installable DVD
- 64 bit installable DVD
Next steps:
- Get some agreement on the above list.
- Get some price quotes so we can figure out quantity.
- Make sure artwork will be produced for all of the above.
$5,600 USD has been earmarked for F13 media in EMEA.
