Revision as of 02:34, 5 June 2010

This page is a draft only
It is still under construction and content may change. Do not rely on the information on this page.

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE LOGOS ON THIS PAGE.

The Fedora brand guidelines are the official brand and logo guidelines of the Fedora Project.

Use of Fedora-related logos must fall under these guidelines. Deviations from the guidelines for the Fedora Logo and the Fedora Remix logo must be permitted by the Board, as they are trademarks. Deviations from the guidelines for the FUDCon logo, the Foundations artwork, and any other guideline must be permitted by the Design Team.

fedora-logos.tar.gz
Some logos will reference fedora-logos.tar.gz and provide a filename. All these logos are available from emailing logo/at/fedoraproject/dot/org. (This queue is run by a human, so please be patient with requests.)
fedora-logos-free.tar.gz
Some logos will reference fedora-logos-free.tar.gz and provide a filename. All these logos are available from INSERT LINK HERE. These logos do not contain trademarked elements and therefore may be distributed freely.

Fedora

The Fedora logo symbolizes the Fedora Project and all that it does — the operating system it creates as well as the community that creates it.

All of these logos are inside the fedora/ directory of fedora-logos.tar.gz.

Trademark guidelines in effect

Fedora®, the Fedora word design, and the Infinity design logo, either separately or in combination, are trademarks of Red Hat, Inc., and their permitted usage is documented in the trademark guidelines.

Although these logos are available here on the wiki, they are NOT licensed for any use except as specifically set out in the trademark guidelines.

If you must use only one color, use only the word design — do not use the Infinity logo. This is fedora_logotype_grayscale.png in fedora-logos.tar.gz.

Clearspace

Placing other elements too close to the Fedora logo can make it appear that we have a relationship between us and what the elements represent. It can also make it look like we've changed. It's important to keep the logo intact, without outside entities, so it will be more recognizable.

Standard uses of the Fedora Logo with other elements

These templates help bring unity across the expanse of the project between different applications on our infrastructure and between different groups within the project.

FUDCon

Different situation
Make sure this section notes that the FUDCon logo is freely licensed and we simply ask people to use them wisely.

Fonts

Where possible, use MgOpen Modata. It's available in the Fedora repositories as mgopen-modata-fonts.

Otherwise, use Droid Sans. It's available in the Fedora repositories as google-droid-sans-fonts.

Do not use Bryant2, the typeface used in the logotype. It is non-free and cannot be distributed with Fedora.

Colors

We keep a single color palette to blah blah fill this in

Using the SVG files

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 The definition of "dark background" is 50% gray or darker.
  2. Note how the "remix" text stays white no matter the background color, unless the background is black.
  3. This is the only exception to the "remix" text being white.
  4. Why no "Freedom Blue"? Funny answer: Since Fedora and Freedom are synonymous, we decided not to create an entirely new color for freedom. Serious answer: The colors are the same.
