Description

This test case exercises the installation using Non-English European language. Testing also includes verifying proper keymap selected during installation.


How to test

  1. Boot and initiate an install using any installation source (e.g. boot.iso, CD, DVD, live image or pxeboot)
  2. Choose a non-English Latin character-based language, such as French, German, or Turkish, and an appropriate Keyboard layout:
    • from a GNOME Live image: User menu -> System Settings -> Region and Language
      1. select or add the language in the Language Tab
      2. select the keyboard in the Layouts Tab
      3. then logout and login to start a new desktop session
      4. Start the installer in GNOME: Activities -> click "Install to Hard Drive" icon
    • or alternatively you can set the live install language in a terminal like this:
      1. Activities -> start "terminal"
      2. In the terminal run the command 'LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 liveinst' (replace with your locale)
    • For a normal non-Live install, proceed through the installer to the Language Selection step, and an appropriate keymap in the Keyboard Selection step
  3. At the Disk Partitioning screen, select Encrypt System, click Next
  4. When prompted, enter a passphrase twice
  5. Finish installation and reboot
  6. Type your passphrase for decryption
  7. Select your user and type your password in the display manager
  8. Open a terminal and try to log in as root

Expected Results

  1. The correct character set is displayed in the language selection screen
    • Graphical installs have different support than text-mode
  2. The appropriate keymap is selected automatically based on the language
  3. Text input using the selected keymap works as expected
  4. Text appears to be translated in the selected language
  5. The appropriate timezone is selected based on the language
  6. Block devices are encrypted (install-time) and decrypted (boot-time) using characters specific to the keymap
  7. GDM accepts user password defined in Firstboot
  8. Root password defined during installation is accepted
