Description
This test validates that the syslinux [1] (or isolinux) boot menu option Boot from local drive performs properly. This test works best when run on a system with an operating system already installed. For more information, consult the 'The Boot Menu' section of the Installation Guide.
Setup
- Prepare your system for booting the ISO image under test (typically a
DVD.iso
,boot.iso
orLive.iso
image). This may involve writing the image to a USB key, or usingdvdrecord
to create an optical disk. - Check your system boot order configuration to ensure that the optical drive (or USB drive) boot target is enabled. This may involve inspecting the BIOS settings for your system.
How to test
- Insert the optical (or USB) media into the appropriate device (optical drive or USB drive), and boot the system under test.
- At the boot prompt, select the menu option Boot from local drive (it might be hidden under Troubleshooting menu).
Expected Results
- Graphical boot menu(isolinux or syslinux) is displayed for users to select install options.
- Upon selecting Boot from local drive, anaconda does not start. If an operating system is already installed on the system under test, that operating system is started.
