Five years ago this past week, the Fedora project became a reality, and it is amazing to see how far we have come. Happy birthday, Fedora!
Lessons learned from five years of Fedora
Rahul Sundaram highlighted [1] the OpenSUSE Community Manager, Joe Brockmeier, in his blog posting posting, "Lessons learned from five years of Fedora". Brockmeier reflects on building open source community projects, and the success Fedora has had in this regard. "The most valuable thing I’ve learned watching Fedora is this: Patience. It takes time and steady, incremental growth to build a solid community. If you’d asked me two years into Fedora’s development whether the project would succeed, I’d have been somewhat skeptical, but looking at the project five years down the road, I’m convinced."
