Description
This test case tests whether guided partitioning to free space within a populated storage device is successful during system installation.
Setup
- Prepare a test system with a working, supported storage device of sufficient size for a Fedora install, and a Fedora installation medium that uses the GTK-based installer. Do not use Fedora Workstation live on Fedora 41+, as that uses the webui-based installer.
- Ensure the target device contains some storage volumes, but also sufficient free (unpartitioned) space for a Fedora installation.
How to test
- Prepare a test system with a working, supported storage device of sufficient size for a Fedora install, and a Fedora installation medium that uses the webui-based installer. Currently, that means using the Workstation live image.
- Ensure only the single target device you prepared is selected as the installation target disk.
- Select the 'Use free space' scenario and ensure that the option to "Reclaim space" is unset, and click 'Next'
- Complete the installation process, making sensible selections for all other installer options.
- Boot the installed system.
Expected Results
- The pre-existing storage volumes should not be touched by the install process.
- The expected partition layout should be created on the target device(s).
- The install process should complete successfully and the installed system should boot as expected.
