Template:User page migration is a message that notifies users that their pages were migrated from the deprecated "JohnDoe/MyPage" convention to the modern "User:jdoe/MyPage" convention. Use this page if you've moved more than a couple of the user's pages, as it's polite to notify them of their content being changed.

To use this template, provide your username, the old name, and the new name as arguments: {{User page migration|Dafrito|AaronFaanes|dafrito}}. Your username should be in plaintext, and it should be exact. You should also provide an example page to demonstrate what occurred; this can be included as the fourth argument: {{User page migration|Dafrito|AaronFaanes|dafrito|Style guide}}.

Examples

Example: Typical migration

This example displays the message, and includes an example.

{{User page migration|Dafrito|AaronFaanes|dafrito|Style guide}}

Output:

User page migration

This is a friendly notification to say that some of your user pages were moved to use the newer User:AaronFaanes prefix. For example, AaronFaanes/Style guide is now accessible by User:dafrito/Style guide. Any original pages were automatically changed to redirect to the new pages; this is to ensure that no existing links were broken by this change.

Example: Generic migration

This example displays the message but omits the example. This shouldn't be typically used, but it's useful if you don't want to dig up the history.

{{User page migration|Dafrito|AaronFaanes|dafrito}}

Output:

User page migration

This is a friendly notification to say that some of your user pages were moved to use the newer User:AaronFaanes prefix. Any original pages were automatically changed to redirect to the new pages; this is to ensure that no existing links were broken by this change.
