- Anything else you want to add:
Zach Oglesby (zoglesby)
- Goal statement: My goal is to continue the growth of Fedora as a premier Linux distribution while keeping focused on the things that make it great. (Our close ties with upstream projects and our stand on freedom.) I believe that the 4 Fs are important to remember when making any decision, they are also the fundamental goals that many people have claimed that Fedora is missing lately.
- Past work summary: Docs Team
- Future plans: I would like to get more involved with marketing as well as work on packaging more.
Jon Stanley (jstanley)
- Goal statement: My goal in being on the Board is to continue to move Fedora forward, with a vision towards the strategic direction of the project. An anti-goal is micromanagement in any way, shape, or form. In my role as a Board member, I actively eschew making technical decisions or overriding community sentiment, no matter how strongly I personally may feel on the topic. There are other forums for that type of influence (or at least being heard, if not directly influencing)
- Past work summary: Active member of the Infrastructure team, current member of the Fedora Board (appointed seat), package maintainer, active Ambassador (I do the CPOSC event every year, and various other Northeast regional events)
- Future Plans: Continue making Fedora rock, and help out in any way that I can
Robert 'Bob' Jensen (EvilBob/EvilBob-Vote4Me)
- Goal statement: Work with the current FPL and the others on the Fedora Board to make sure we continue to respect the Four Foundations. To make sure that the community knows they are being heard via active two way communication. To read/hear what the community is saying and nodding your head is not enough. If the board is doing something, talking about something I want the community to know and I will want feedback from the community. The community elected Board members are your appointed voices and need to be accountable to you. Fedora is built on what I call "The Community Concept" in the recent past it seems that this concept has been failing, lets get it back on the right track.
An issue that the Board and Fedora are facing now and in the near future is the CWG, how to enforce the CoC and how to deal with enforcement. Long term is the relationship with the GNOME Project. As downstream many feel we should have a say in what GNOME does, As upstream, hey it's the GNOME project and shouldn't they be able to do as they see fit? One thing that we the Fedora Project has to remember is that Red Hat has a huge investment in both projects, how does that impact what we do in the future? I think Red Hat needs to be respected, they do a lot for us. Should we or can we move away from GNOME as the main desktop in Fedora if that is the consensus of the community? How would our actions in that case impact them with out our foundation of First? GNOME has to deal with many external pressures and do their best to fit their market. I am not sure at this time how I feel about it as there are so many questions to think about, if elected I expect you to tell me how you feel about them and essentially how you want me to vote on these topics and any others that come up. I want to be your voice, anyone that knows me well knows I can play "devil's advocate" sticking up for something even if I personally disagree with it.
- Past work summary: In the past 8 years I have been involved in many parts of the Fedora Project and the Fedora Community. The one most know is being one of the founders of the Fedora Unity Project, this project has given to the community things like FedoraSolved.org, Re-Spins of Fedora releases, the first LiveCDs. As part of Fedora Unity I was named as a Fedora Award winner in 2007. In the past have been involved in the Fedora Documentation Project including sitting on it's Steering Committee, The Fedora Ambassadors including sitting on FAMSCo, early on I was involved in Fedora Marketing and Websites. I started the Fedora Amateur Radio SIG packaging Ham apps for Fedora. I am actively involved in the "IRC Support SIG" trying to improve the user experience and change how we have done things wrong in the past and in some cases still are. I also have two projects on Fedora Hosted that we are currently working on, Reflector and Multiboot Media Creator.
- Future plans: This is the hardest question for me to answer, it forces me to look at things that I may have done wrong... I have been and will continue to work on my communication skills so I don't piss people off every time I open my mouth or fire up my keyboard. Long term I would like to be the first true community FPL. I know they say it's a full time job and the FPL is a Red Hat employee. I have no desire to be a Red Hat employee at this time, to be paid to do something that I am passionate about.
- Anything else you want to add: I will not self-nominate, if the community shows they want me then I am in. Some suggest that I am unpopular, If I have more than 10 people publicly endorsing me I am clearly not unpopular with everyone. Why am I unpopular with some? I speak the truth as I see it, some disagree with me, some think I am too brutal... some can't handle the truth. I have been known to say the right things the wrong way, I'm human. The Fedora Board is not about popularity, it's about making Fedora better, stronger, the best community in the sea of many distros. We do not have to be "First" in the market, Fedora's First is about innovation. That innovation like it or not is what brought most of us to Fedora and now we complain about new things in each release... We have to work together, splintering Fedora as a distro does us no good as a community.
So lets go ahead and run it up the flag pole and see who has the intestinal fortitude to salute.

- Goal statement: I want Fedora for all. I am going to make Fedora available in different areas like naive users. I want to see Fedora everywhere rather than the U.S and Europe. I believe that the Board can review some past works and make a strong strategy to develop the idea of Fedora for all

Andrea Veri (averi)
- Goal statement: I’ve been travelling around in several Open Source communities during all these years and when I first joined Fedora I saw there are many problems and issues I would love to find a solution to. I would like to write a small resume of those problems coming both from my personal experience and from the complaints I’ve been talking about during several weeks with my co-workers / friends in the teams I contribute most in our beloved community. Here they are:
- Fedora’s localization is actually missing a proper organization / setup. Yeah, we do have Fedora translated in multiple languages but what about the local teams? I’ve been very impressed during 2005-2006 while contributing to Ubuntu seeing how the Loco Teams were handled there (Loco Teams are little communities with their own organization and setup within the bigger Ubuntu community, if you were an Italian or French user you knew where to go to ask for help). This is actually completely missing in Fedora and while working on the Italian team I found out there are many and grave issues between one of the localized communities against another one pursuing the same objective: diffusing Fedora, supportingusers to find a solution to their problems. This is what happens when no formalization (officializing a certain local community that reports having all the needed requirements to gain that status) is given at all from the higher governance institutions of the community, everyone is arguing they are the *official* italian community and fight against each other to gain the first position. This should *never* happen, we have to cooperate making Fedora a better distro for everyone and fighting is not the proper way to achieve our goal. So setting up a form of formalization is something I would like to work on as soon as possible.
- Another thing I would like to focus on is how the Board should act within the community at this time; It should represent the community and its members, if a single or multiple members are having a specific problem, the Board must deal with them to find a solution (from the bigger to the smaller problem), that's how a community can grow up time by time. Leaving problems as they are really won't change how things are going in the community at the moment. Let's start making the big change, that's what a great community like the Fedora one deserves now. The Board, in the end, should be the main reference point for everyone wanting to propose a new idea or just willing to costructively complain about something not working in the right way. Discussing problems, respecting other community members and finding a common solution is alwais the way to go.
- While working on JustFedora and another project within the Fedora’s infrastructure, I’ve been attacked by several people criticizing me and my work without having a real and valid reason to do so. That behaviour scared me a lot, it just kill other contributors enthusiasm and kill the community itself. We need to find a way to improve our Code of Conduct, we need to find a valid solution to enforce members respecting it and most important we need to remember which values should be found behind a community: respecting others and their ideas is a must, criticizing without valid motivations and just for the sake of doing so will just take our community to die time by time. We need to avoid the creation of little groups pursuing specific objectives far away from making Fedora great, we need to act together as a community, we don’t have to fight each other but we have to cooperate finding common solutions, discussing, criticizing costructively and helping our community coming out from the current situation.
- Past work summary: Mainly on:
- Fedora's Italian Translation Team
- Fedora's Insight Team
- Fedora's Infrastructure Team
- Future plans: I would like to help Fedora’s community coming out from the current smoke curtain with my two cents, I would love seeing people acting together costructively, I would love seeing people contributing to new ideas without having prejudices on them, I would love seeing a renewed Fedora community.
