What to test?
Today's Fedora Test Day will focus on the intel driver for Intel graphics cards.
If you come to this page after the test day is completed, your testing is still valuable, and you can use the information on this page to test with your graphics card and provide feedback.
Who's available
The following cast of characters will be available for testing, workarounds, bug fixes, and general discussion...
What's needed to test
- An Intel graphics adapter. To confirm whether you have supporting hardware, run the following command:
/sbin/lspci -d 8086: | grep -iq VGA && echo "Join Intel Fedora Test Day" || echo "Sorry, no Intel graphics hardware found."
- An updated Fedora 20 pre-release, or the special live image (see below)
How to test?
Update your machine
If you're running Fedora 20, make sure you have all the current updates for it installed, using the update manager (and with the updates-testing repository enabled). Or you can use a live image:
Live image
Optionally, you may download a non-destructive Fedora 20 live image for your architecture. Tips on using a live image are available at FedoraLiveCD. The 'mini' images are around 700MB in size and contain everything you need for most tests, but not the advanced 3D tests. The 'maxi' images are around 3GB in size and contain all the games and apps for the advanced 3D tests as well.

Testing and reporting results
The testing page provides a list of the tests to run, and lets you report your results. Clicking on a test name will show you the instructions for doing that test, and clicking 'Enter result' will let you enter your result for that test. For the Hardware name, please enter the model number for your graphics adapter as precisely as you can. You can use the lspci -nn
command to provide the PCI ID, if you are comfortable doing so.
Don't feel obliged to complete all the tests! They are listed in approximate order of importance, so if you only have time to do a few, start with the first section and work your way down. It's fine to skip any tests you can't complete, or aren't sure you understand - or you can ask in IRC for help.
If you have problems with any of the tests, report a bug to Bugzilla, usually for the component xorg-x11-drv-intel. If you are unsure about exactly how to file the report, just ask on IRC and we will help you. Follow the instructions on this page to ensure you include sufficient information in the report.
Basic tests are elementary functionality tests, expected to pass on all supported adapters. Desktop tests cover key desktop functions and again should work on all supported adapters. Video tests cover video playback: some functions may not be supported on older adapters. 3D tests cover more advanced 3D functionality; some more advanced tests may fail on hardware that is not yet fully supported. Crashes, rendering issues and glitches bugreports are more important then performance issues. Experimental tests cover more unusual and experimental functionality.
Results
These results have been transferred from the testing and reporting results page for the future record. Please do not edit them directly to submit late results, but use that page.

Long comments
- ↑ Before the boot logo appeared, a white screen was displayed for a short period of time. Once the logo has been fully loaded, the screen blinked once.
- ↑ I launched all of the specified demos together and viewed them running correctly both in normal operation and via the overview. I did experience three moments where, just after starting up a new demo, all of them froze for a few seconds, but given that I was clearly overstressing the graphics card, this was to be expected.
- ↑ keep CTRL+ALT pressed constantly during the test 1; press CTRL+ALT+F1 -> switching to console is successful 2; press CTRL+ALT+F2 -> swicthing to GUI is successful 3; press CTRL+ALT+F1 -> does not change to console, need to relase CTR+ALT to be able to change with CTRL+ALT+F1 to console
- ↑ Almost all test worked fine. - dlist-lat-tri crashed with double free corruption some demos asserted with "LinkShaders3: Assertion `vertShader || fragShader' failed" : - blinking-teapot - brick - bump
- ↑ first try failed -> no mouse pointer and graphical artefacts (e.g. blue rectangle in hot corner or sometimes white desktop background for a few seconds). Second try (systemctl stop and start) -> all works fine. Trying with test live image.
- ↑ Earlier I was having problems with the backlight level not returning to the proper level after resuming from suspend, but now I can't reproduce the issue
- ↑ I could not use the mouse on the login screen (only keyboard worked), but I was able to log in successfully to a new user. That user's desktop came up fine. I was able to switch back and forth after that successfully.
- ↑ If you arrange the secondary above or below with an offset to the right or left occasionally imposes odd bounds for where a window can be placed on the secondary monitor.
- ↑ Dualhead (laptop off, 2x extra LCD) is broken. After log in, one screen has artifacts, second does not. After changing relative position of screens, both are broken.
- ↑ If external display (VGA1) is arranged to be above built-in display (LVDS1) then I was not able to move windows into VGA1. Other cases worked fine.
- ↑ first try - on switching screen and on second desktop after switching is missing mouse pointer, only keyboard works. Second try - everything works ok.
- ↑ Everything worked, except for the fact that I was not able to run two DisplayPort monitors (connected to the docking station) at the same time as the built-in display. I'm assuming this is a built-in limitation of the hardware, and not an error.
- ↑ In "Representations" demo mesh was good during the starting animation, but afterwards is was blinking. Not much was visible of it, mostly some blue line segments.
- ↑ Texture size "medium" and above causes a displaying problem that reflecting areas (usually triangles) appear on the track instead of the correct texture e.g. on the road, the gravel next o the track
- ↑ Native resolution + full screen. With a subset of graphics settings some textures were replaced with reflecting or transparent triangles e.g. pieces of road at the start line. I couldn't find the smallest subset of settings, but probably "shader" must set to true.
- ↑ Switching to discrete card results in black screen. However system is still responsive, if blindly switch to Intel GPU bash in virtual terminal will be present.
- ↑ After relogin I got black screen. I pressed Ctrl+Alt+F2 and typed in console "systemctl stop display-manager.service". It killed system at all.
