We need to start building a Virtualization test plan for the Fedora QA community.

Here are some very rough notes to begin with:

    • Guest installs with virt-manager and virt-install
    • Different storage options
    • Different networking options
    • Serial console
    • Qemu without KVM
    • CD and HTTP installs
    • Multiple vCPUs
    • Autostart
    • Sound
    • Remote installation and management
    • Reboot/shutdown
    • Save/restore/migrate
  • KVM:
    • CPU hot plug
    • PCI hot plug
    • virtual floppy
    • VLANs
    • swapping of guests by the host
    • qcow vs raw images
    • test all supported NICs (rtl8139, e1000, virtio)
    • guest boot from PXE
    • time drift and unsynced TSC
    • live migration
    • large numbers of guests
    • PCI device assignment
    • SDL
  • Platforms
    • 32 bit and 64 bit hosts
    • 32 bit guest on 64 bit host
    • Intel x86 (with and without EPT)
    • AMD x86 (with and without NPT)
  • Guest OSes
    • Fedora 8/9
    • Other distros - e.g. openSUSE, Ubuntu, Debian
    • RHEL 3/4/5
    • Windows 2000, XP, Vista
