Brief bio: I have been with Red Hat Asia Pacific in 2003 and is currently part of the Community Architecture Group. Has held many positions within RH - Chief Technology Architect, ISV Management, Red Hat University and now in CA.

As a member of the CA team - Global Community and Technology Architect - I will be targeting on getting increased focus in APAC community from Red Hat corporate as well as increasing the visibility of the community to the greater Red Hat APAC family. Events like POSSE, promotion of "The Open Source Way" to encourage businesses in APAC to adopt open source principles in building their products as well as engagement at government levels to adopt both open source and open standards as part of their technology framework.

FY12 (March 2011 to Feb 2012) plans:

a) To meet with Fedora Ambassadors in APAC at least once a month (online and in meat space); and FAmSCO.

b) To help set up and run POSSEs in APAC - also find ways to scale POSSE

c) To see adoption of TOSW in SMEs

d) To grow JBoss and DeltaCloud communities in APAC

Secondary Goals (outside Red Hat):

a) To define and deliver a set of best practises for online collaboration within the ISO/IEC JTC1 Standards Committees (SCs) (http://www.iso.org/iso/jtc1_home.html). I am chairing the group as part of "Resolution 52 - Establishment of Ad Hoc Group on Enabling tools to support JTC1's work" passed in Belfast in November 2010. This work is to be submitted at the ISO/IEC JTC1 Plenary in November 2011 in San Diego (my travel etc is funded by SPRING Singapore - www.spring.gov.sg)

b) To work with National Standards bodies to formulate and build open standards for "cloud computing".

c) Introduce and actively encourage the use of PGP/GPG keys by running GPG/PGP key signing parties at Fedora events - and example is http://harishpillay.wordpress.com/2010/12/09/gpg-keysigning-at-foss-in-2010/.
