Fedora Talk Facilitator Cases

This page is intended to be a comprehensive list of all the things a Facilitator might want to do with FedoraTalk. A separate page holds things a regular User or Adminstrator might need to do. These use cases are developed as part of the FAD Fedora Talk 2009 game plan.

Host A Conference

Fred would like to host a conference where three or more people can participate in the same call.

1. Fred looks on http://talk.fedoraproject.org/conference to find the appropriate conference room
2. Fred selects an appropriate conference room and gives the extension to the participants
3. Fred and other participants call into extension.

Host A Recorded Conference

• Susan would like to host a conference where three or more people can participate in the same call and have that call recorded for personal playback and download.
• Roofus is a member of the Infrastructure team and part of the sysadmin-tools FAS group.

1. Susan looks on http://talk.fedoraproject.org/conference to find an appropriate conference room for recorded conferences: extensions 2020 to 2029.
2. Susan selects an appropriate conference room and gives the extension to the participants
3. Susan files a ticket with the infrastructure group requesting that her conference in the specified conference room be recorded at a specific time (the start of her meeting).
4. Susan and other participants call into extension.
5. Susan and all the participants hang up and recording automatically stops.
6. Roofus updates the ticket with the URL for the recorded conference and closes the ticket.

Relaying Live Events via Fedora Talk

Judy is attending FUDCon and wants to make her talk available to others via Fedora Talk in real time.

1. Judy looks on http://talk.fedoraproject.org/conference to find an appropriate conference room for recorded conferences: extensions 2020 to 2029.
2. Judy configures her laptop so that the microphone she uses is the audio input for her softphone
3. Judy calls the designated conference room

Relaying and Recording Live Events via Fedora Talk

Jaymee is attending FUDCon and wants to make her talk available to others via Fedora Talk in real time.

1. Jaymee looks on http://talk.fedoraproject.org/conference to find an appropriate conference room for recorded conferences: extensions 2020 to 2029.
2. Jaymee configures her laptop so that the microphone she uses is the audio input for her softphone
3. Jaymee calls the designated conference room
4. Jaymee follows the steps for recording a conference (see above).

Streaming a Conference to Fedora Talk

Sally, Matt, Steve, and Fabio want to hold a conference that can be streamed over the web for the public listening.

1. Fabio looks on http://talk.fedoraproject.org/conference to find an appropriate conference room for recorded conferences: extensions 2020 to 2029.
2. Fabio selects a conference room that can be streamed: 2020 to 2029
3. Fabio files a ticket with Infrastructure to start the streaming on a particular date and time
4. Fabio, Matt, Steve, and Sally join the conference room at the specified date and time.
