pup is a graphical tool included in pirut (pronounced pirate) to update packages. This document contains a basic usage of pup step-by-step.
Open application
Open pup from Applications > System Tools > Software Updater.
Select and apply update
Select a package and use Update Details to see version information. Click Apply updates to continue
Wait for depsolving
Wait for pup to resolve dependencies for updates.
Additional updates
Once all dependencies are resolved, it might require to add additional updates. Click Continue to confirm.
Downloading updates
Now, pup downloads packages from either the Fedora yum base server or one of many mirror servers.
Importing a key
If this is your first time updating packages, it might ask you to import key which requires to verify the pacakges. Click Import key to continue.
Updating software
Now, it's updating software. It will take for a while if this is your first updates.
Rebooting if required
When all the updates are installed, it might ask you to reboot the system if the updates include kernel updates.
You can either click on Reboot now or click Reboot later but it is recommened to reboot your system when new kernel updates are installed.
