Basic FAmSCo activity

What is this section's purpose?
This section gives some quick health indicators about how much FAmSCo is communicating. Sometimes FAmSCo members can't make a meeting due to travel or conflict, but the combination of meeting attendance plus email is a nice metric.

FAmSCo meetings

FAmSCo held 3 meetings in January. Attendance was as follows:

  • 3 out of 3 -- Joerg, Max, Maria, David, Susmit
  • 2 out of 3 -- Rodrigo, Luca

Regional meetings

One of FAmSCo's goals this year is to make sure that at least one FAmSCo member is at each regional meeting that is held.

As of the time this report was prepared, 5 regional meetings held in January had been logged.

  • NA -- 2 meetings, both attended by David.
  • EMEA -- 2 meetings, both attended by Max, 1 attended by Luca and Joerg.
  • APAC -- 1 meeting, attended by Susmit.
  • LATAM -- no meetings logged.

FAmSCo mailing list

FAmSco's mailing list received 78 messages this month:

  • Max -- 23
  • Joerg -- 22
  • Susmit -- 12
  • David -- 6
  • Maria -- 5
  • Rodrigo -- 4
  • Luca -- 4
  • Francesco -- 1

General accomplishments or decisions

What is this section's purpose?
This section discusses the non-regional achievements within either FAmSCo or the larger Ambassadors project from this month.

Budget

Where does FAmSCo's budget come from?
The FAmSCo budget rolls up into the larger Community Architecture expenses. On that page, FAmSCo's budget is represented by the "Regional support" line item.

We are currently in Q4 2010 (December 2009 - February 2010). FAmSCo's total budget for this quarter is $32,000.

As of January 31, 2010:

  • Total spent and fully expensed and/or reimbursed: $13,195
  • Estimated amount that has not yet been expensed and/or reimbursed: $3,000

At the current pace, we are going to finish the quarter well under budget. This is fine if there are no urgent needs worldwide, but it seems like the flow of money into the regions that need it is currently stalled.

In short, FAmSCo is worried about what seems to be very little spending in LATAM, India, and APAC. We still have about two weeks left in this quarter to correct that, but it requires those regions to get their shopping lists together quickly. In your regional meetings, please make a list of the things that you need, and bring that discussion to the mailing list.

Regional breakdown

  • NA -- $5,690
  • EMEA -- $5,380
    • $4,640 -- Fedora 12 media
    • $680 -- Case badges
    • $60 -- Athens release party
  • India/APAC -- $1,785
  • LATAM -- $340
    • $340 -- Case badges

Mentoring

One of the items on the FAmSCo agenda regarding mentoring is the automation of the membership service, which will improve the mentoring workflow, as described here.
