“Freedom, Friends, Features, First” - these four foundations are the core values of the Fedora community and FUDCon is the Fedora Users and Developers Conference, a major free software event held in various regions around the world, usually annually per region. FUDCon 2015 is powered by the community behind Fedora Project and is organized in association with the Maharashtra Institute of Technology College of Engineering (MIT COE), one of the premier engineering colleges in Pune, at their Campus from the 26th to the 28th of June, 2015.
FUDCon is a mix of sessions. There are talks that range from technology introductions to deep dives, hands-on workshops, BoFs where like-minded people get together to discuss a project or technology and hackfests where contributors work on specific initiatives. Topics include infrastructure, feature development, community building, general management and governance, marketing, testing and QA, packaging, etc.
For students, FUDCon provides a perfect start point to acquire knowledge about The Fedora Project; learn about Open Source communities; implement elements from their curriculum in real projects; create a track record as a contributor. The event has a large number of existing contributors who are eager to seek new participants in their projects; collaborate on cool ideas that are innovative; socialize and explore opportunities that arise from conversations.
FUDCon is not only about attending talks. It is about meeting people; about conversations; exchange of ideas; creating new things. FUDCon is a 3 day long understanding of various facets of Open Source, Collaborative culture and sharing of knowledge.
The agenda of FUDCon is designed to appeal to the professionals - those who are already working with various open source infrastructure and technologies. There are talks on DevOps Practices; Continuous Integration; Virtualization; Distributed File Storage; Infrastructure as a Service; Elastic Infrastructure; Container Technologies; Orchestration etc
In each of these domains, the speakers are those who have been contributing to projects like Atomic, OpenStack, Gluster, Ceph, Ansible and so on.
FUDCon and FUDPub provide the ideal environment to initiate discussions around new technologies; create use-cases that help the projects to have new features; meet and solve deployment related topics and in general share war stories on technologies and deployments at scale.
FUDCon is always free to attend for anyone in the world.
