Why do you want to work with the Fedora Project?
I'm already a Fedora package maintainer and I'm enthusiastic about open-source. I like to work with the community and my personal goal is to make Fedora packaging more productive and keep packages consistent.
Do you have any past involvement with the Fedora project or any other open source project as a contributor?
I'm maintaining or comaintaining several Java-related packages. For example: Lucene, Jetty and related packages, some packages in the Maven stack. I contribute to javapackages-tools which is a set of utilities that simplify packaging of Java applications and serve as a front-end to XMvn and provides a way to manipulate Maven POM files and XMvn configuration. My contributions there were rewriting the POM editing part from bash into Python and adding additional features to it.
Did you participate with the past GSoC programs, if so which years, which organizations?
No I din't.
Will you continue contributing/ supporting the Fedora project after the GSoC 2014 program, if yes, which team(s), you are interested with?
Yes, In packaging. I'm interested in keeping Fedora packages up-to-date and their specfiles as clear and simple as possible. I currently package Java, but I'd like to also have some packages using more exotic languages on the platform, such as Clojure.
Why should we choose you over other applicants?
I already have experience with Fedora packaging an I know what are the current limitations that slow down our workflow and how the situation could be improved. I use mock on a regular basis so I'd like to improve other packagers workflow and also mine.
