OpenType fonts based on Computer Modern
Description
The Latin Modern fonts are a set of scalable fonts in OpenType formats by Bogusław Jackowski and Janusz M. Nowacki. They are based on the PostScript Type 1 version of the famous Computer Modern fonts designed by Donald E. Knuth.
One of the main extensions characterizing the Latin Modern collection is the addition of an extensive set of diacritical characters, covering many scripts based on the Latin character set, mainly European, but not only, most notably Vietnamese.
The collection also contains a Latin Modern Math font which provides many mathematical and technical characters. This font also has an OpenType MATH table and other related OpenType features that can be used to layout mathematical expressions.
The Latin Modern fonts were generated using MetaType1, a program based on MetaPost for generating PostScript Type 1 fonts. Their size is reasonable and they are usually considered to be of good quality.
