List of Input methods with their options:-

Japanese (Kan Kanji) In libkkc input method space is used for conversion of characters i.e if user types few characters and press space key then user would get suggestions and to select/commit the candidates one need to press “Enter” key. Candidate can be chosen by numbers. Input method selector icon changes with each submenu. To switch between internal mode such as Hiragana,Katakana, keyboard short such as “ALT+key seq” is used.

This input method is based on libkkc library and has following input modes

1: Hiragana:- To test hiragana mode input “asa” + “Space” after “Enter” one will get 朝

2: katakana:- To test hiragana mode input “asa” and “Enter” one will get アサ If one want’s to see conversion then after “asa” one needs to press space key twice to see conversion and to select the desired word one need to press “Enter again”

3: Half width Katakana:- Type options are same as Katana except conversion results are different.

4: Latin:- Using fullwidth Latin and monospaced fonts, every Latin character is exactly as wide as a Chinese or Japanese character

5: Wide Latin:- Same as that of Latin Mode

6: Direct Input:- No input method is used

Setup Options:- It’s preferences or setup can be called from gnome-control-center option’s or input method options.

setup options can be used to modify typing option,shortcuts and dictionaries


Chinese(Intelligent Pinyin) In Pinyin input method space is used to commit the characters and Enter key is used. Candidate can be chosen by numbers.

Input mode options for Chinese(Intelligent Pinyin):- 1:Chinese/English toggle option:- English Mode is nothing but direct input mode i.e input mode with no IME

Setup/Preferences Options for Intelligent Pinyin :- Using setup options of pInyin can be used to chage Orientation of candidates,Number of candidates,System/User Dictionay selection,Input method preferences such as Pinyin


Hangul Korean input method' Hangul method has one to one mapping of each korean character and space or enter key can be used to commit. However hangul input method has a switch “Hanja Lock”.Suggestions for Korean characters can be enabled by turning Hanja Lock on.Candidates can be selected by using numbers and “Enter” or “Space” key can be used to commit the word.In hangul input method user gets suggestions for complex characters.

It’s setup :- Using Hangul’s Keyboard layout and Hanja switching options. It does not have any preferences for candidate orientation or dictionary.



m17n input methods m17n input methods provides supports Asian languages such as ta,te,pa,mr,vt,hi…. In m17n input methods have one to one mapping of characters, space key is used to commit characters.

Its setup,
