Description

This case tests upgrading from the current stable release (Fedora 41) to the development release (Fedora 42) with Xfce desktop.


How to test

  1. Perform an installation of the previous Fedora release (Fedora 41) with Xfce desktop using any available means (Xfce Spin, DVD/Netinst.iso/PXE installation and select XFCE group)
  2. Log into Xfce and do a full system update.
  3. Upgrade your system to Fedora 42 using any available means (boot.iso, PXE or DVD.iso)
  4. Boot and test the system.
  5. Log into Xfce and test the desktop and important applications and desktop components (Terminal, File manager, panels, sound mixer, desktop icons, menus etc ...)

Expected Results

  1. The system should be upgraded to Fedora 42 version without error
  2. The display manager should offer Xfce4 as a session type
  3. Xfce desktop settings must be the same, if there's any changes in configuration file format, you should be prompted to migrate your settings.
  4. Applications and desktop components should work correctly.
