If you come to this page before or after the test day is completed, your testing is still valuable, and you can use the information on this page to test, file any bugs you find at Bugzilla, and add your results to the results section. If this page is more than a month old when you arrive here, please check the current schedule and see if a similar but more recent Test Day is planned or has already happened.

What to test?[edit]

Today's installment of Fedora Test Day will focus on translations and internationalization support in Anaconda

Who's available[edit]

Prerequisite for Test Day[edit]

  • One or more keyboards with different layouts.
  • Bare metal or virtual machine.
  • Usb key, a virtualized guest or a burned CD/DVD with the test image

You may download a non-destructive pre-Fedora 17 live image for your architecture. Tips on using a live image are available at FedoraLiveCD.

Post-live image updates
If you are using the live image, please run this commands in terminal: su -c 'yum update' . Please logout and login again before you start testing.

Using the live image is the easiest way to participate in testing for most people, but alternatively you can:

Update your machine to Fedora 17[edit]

If you are already running or want to try the pre-release of Fedora 17, install Fedora 17 Alpha and then update to the latest packages.

Where to specify the language on live cd?
Since GDM currently has no language or session choosers, you need login to the system and select system->system settings, then choose the language either in User Accounts or Region and Language.

Test Results[edit]

If you have problems with any of the tests, report a bug to Bugzilla usually for the component anaconda. If you are unsure about exactly how to file the report or what other information to include, just ask on IRC and we will help you. Once you have completed the tests, add your results to the Results table below, following the example results from the first line as a template. The first column should be your name with a link to your User page in the wiki if you have one, and the second should be the test case you followed. Use the result template to enter your results in the third column, as shown in the example result line.

Long comments[edit]

  1. ↑ Root password setting page has english strings (in Vitual Machine only), as well as weak password warning msg coming in english(This issue is there for direct installation as well.
  2. ↑ On "Select keyboard layout" screen: need to change the translation "തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക" to "തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക" and unwanted 200D in few language names.
  3. ↑ Firstboot Welcome Screen: "Klicken Sie auf "Vorwärts"... should be "Klicken Sie auf "Vor"... to match button. Better still, change both to "Weiter". (fixed)
  4. ↑ Some timezones are in English. Example: Creston, St Barthelemy (not in Timezones file). Changes done to Timezone file after previous QA were not included into this build.
  5. ↑ Smolt translation incomplete. Also error in confirmation message when user chooses not to send a profile. "Вы уверены, что не хотите отправить профиль?" Buttons translation is not clear: "Отменить отправку" and "Нет, не отправлять".
