What to test?[edit]

Today's installment of Fedora Test Day will focus on Internationalization a.k.a. i18n around Desktops including their applications. this aims to ensure if i18n support works enough on them.

Prerequisite for Test Day[edit]

One or more keyboards with different layouts
An updated Fedora 33 Latest Workstation Live image, or a Fedora 33 nightly image
- As of today on this test day we see that Fedora QA recommended last known image is available image at this location.

An updated Fedora 33 Latest Fedora Silverblue image, or a Fedora 33 nightly image

How to test?[edit]

Update your machine[edit]

If you test with an installed system, make sure you have all the current updates installed, using the update manager.

Live image[edit]

Instead of testing on an installed system, you may download a Fedora 33 nightly Workstation live image or Fedora 33 Silverblue image for your architecture. Tips on using a live image are available at FedoraLiveCD. The latest live image links can be found here: please make sure to get a Fedora 33 nightly, not Rawhide.

Run the tests[edit]

Visit the result page and click on the column title links to see the tests that need to be run: most column titles are links to a specific test case. Follow the instructions there, then enter your results by clicking the Enter result button for the test.

Reporting bugs[edit]

Include some instructions on how to report bugs, and any special instructions.

If you have problems with any of the tests, report a bug to Bugzilla for the appropriate component. If you are unsure about exactly how to file the report or what other information to include, just ask on IRC and we will help you.

When typing "a a a a " with the default settings, one should get ㅁ ㅁ ㅁ ㅁ but sometimes the space is inserted before the ㅁ and sometimes the space disappears. ↑ RHBZ #1876865 Using hi-itrans with ibus-m17n in Gnome Wayland doesn't work well, it inserts the spaces in wrong positions. Using hi-itrans with ibus-typing-booster works even in Gnome Wayland.

Looking at the Keymap also only shows English alphabets, with the only difference being that the right alt key was labeled as "Hangul". ↑ Was able to get the conversions to work and arrive at 私の名前は中野です ↑ Was able to add the Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin) IME and play around the preferences for enabling and disabling the Dictionaries for Art, Culture, Economy, Geology, History, Life, etc. ↑ Was able to add the Chinese(New Zhuyin) IME and was able to input random characters using it to Gedit. ↑ Used Bangla (inscript2(m17n)). Was able to get the following outputs for <AltGr + f > or <AltGr + r> or <AltGr + 4>: ৢ ৣ ₹ ↑ All test cases passed for Chinese (Cangjie). ↑ All character input tests passed for Chinese (Quick) IME.
