I am brand new to Fedora and thus the Fedora Project. Fedora 10 is simply a lot of fun and fascinating. I enjoy the freedom of choosing what applications to run with my system. It is fascinating because of all the hard work that has gone into the project by dedicated people.
So far, I have set up my HP Officejet Pro L7580 on the network, my NVIDIA card, CD and DVD playback, and Firefox with Adobe Flash Player. I have learned some of the basics in the file and packaging system.
Currently I have a prototype system up and running. My machine is a dedicate XP OS running Raid5. I set Fedora 10 up on a USB HD via Thumb-drive. Since my machine is set to boot to USB I thought that to be the safest way to try out the prototype OS
That said, I am very tempted to serious migrate over to F10 from XP. I still have more research as far as Raid 5, accounting software, and web authoring tools as well as choosing a new server for my business web site as all my web tools and hosting are currently MS based. I have a lot of research to do before I do the full migration. I'm not a MS basher. I do, however, really like and appreciate all the work that has gone into the Fedora Project.
I will write later of my migration research. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 2009 promises to reveal new developments in the computer world. It's going to be a fun ride and I believe Fedora is riding the ideal spot on the wave.
